The basics
1. What is Table for Six (T46)?
Table for Six (T46) is an in-person "blind-box" social event in China: you book in the Table for Six mini program on WeChat or Xiaohongshu, and we match six strangers at one table for dinner or drinks. It's run by 上海交点效应科技有限公司, founded in 2025.
2. Which cities is Table for Six in?
As of 20 Oct 2026, Table for Six runs in 12 cities in China: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Changsha, Wuhan, Chongqing, Tianjin, Nanjing and Suzhou. The mini program has each city's weekly schedule.
3. How much does it cost?
The RMB 58 fee does not include the meal; diners split the bill at the restaurant. Drinks are RMB 88 Monday to Thursday and RMB 118 Friday to Sunday, because Friday counts as the weekend, with one cocktail or non-alcoholic drink included. You pay per event.
4. Is it like Timeleft? Is Timeleft in China?
It's a similar idea (strangers matched into a small group to meet in person), but Table for Six is built for China, and as of 20 Oct 2026 Timeleft's locations page (timeleft.com/locations) lists no city in China. Timeleft lists 200+ cities in 52 countries, including Hong Kong, and says on its site that you need a membership to book. Table for Six runs in 12 cities in China, is booked through WeChat or Xiaohongshu, charges per event, and offers women-only tables.
5. How do I sign up?
Search Table for Six, choose a city, date and session, finish the questionnaire and pay. The mini program, the App Store listing, Xiaohongshu and the WeChat official account are all named Table for Six. You book in the mini program.
The evening
6. When do I find out the venue and who is at the table?
You find out the place and some information about your tablemates before the event starts, usually 24 hours before: the meeting place and a short introduction to the people at your table. Until then, the table is a "blind box."
7. How many people are at a table, and how is the mix decided?
Six people per table. When you book, you can choose a gender-balanced table or a women-only table. We group the table from the questionnaire, aiming for people who can talk and who are not all the same.
8. I'm introverted, socially anxious, or new in town. Is this for me?
Yes. You don't have to organise the night or come up with topics: the table has conversation cards prepared for that table, and following the cards is enough to get the conversation going. If you have just arrived in a city and don't have many friends yet, that is fine too. In one evening, the five people at your table are people you have newly met in that city.
"No socially anxious awkward small talk. The event had topic cards prepared. Questions you don't want to answer can be skipped. It wasn't awkward at all." 「不用社恐式尬聊,活动准备了话题卡牌 不想回答的问题可以直接跳过,完全不尴尬」 (Guest in Beijing) This note
9. Will it be awkward to go alone? What are the conversation cards?
Not really. The people at the table don't know each other, so everyone starts from the same place. The conversation cards are questions and small games prepared for each table. They start with lighter questions and move on to interests, daily life and ideas.
"Every question was just right. They didn't pry too far into private matters, but they still made you think, and the conversation didn't die." 「每一个问题都恰到好处,不会过多打探隐私,也能够引发思考,不会冷场」 (Guest in Guangzhou) This note
10. What actually happens at the table?
Six people meet at the venue and follow conversation cards and small games made for that table. The cards start easy and go deeper. There's no fixed end time; most tables run 2–3 hours. You'll usually find out the venue and a short introduction to your tablemates about 24 hours before the start.
Who it's for
11. Can foreigners join? Are there English-speaking tables?
English-speaking tables, events for international guests, and an overseas version are coming soon; no dates have been set. For now, conversation at the table is in Chinese.
12. Is Table for Six a dating app?
No. Table for Six is social without an agenda. Our tagline translates roughly as "come expecting nothing, leave with something": a meal or a drink and good conversation, not matchmaking or networking. After the event, you and your tablemates can pick each other in the mini program to keep in touch, if you both want to. You see each other's contact details only if you both pick.
13. Can we exchange contact details afterwards?
You can keep in touch through mutual selection in the mini program: you see each other's contact details only if both of you pick. As of 20 Oct 2026, the chance of at least one mutual pick after an event is over 90% (platform data). It is completely fine not to pick anyone.
14. Is it safe?
Table for Six has several safety measures: real-name verification, in-app reporting, a blocklist, and an SOS emergency contact in the mini program. You can also book a women-only table, and all guests must be 18 or older. Venues are generally restaurants or bars open to the public.
15. Can I join if I don't drink?
Yes. The drink included on a drinks night can be non-alcoholic, and you can also book a dinner.
Refunds & changes
16. Can I get a refund?
Yes. Cancel 28 or more hours before the start for a full refund. Inside 28 hours, 10% is refunded. After you have arrived, or after the event has started, there is no self-service refund. If you are not matched into a table, you can choose in the mini program to move to the next session or apply for a refund. A refund returns the booking fee and coupons in full.
17. Can I reschedule?
It depends on whether that session has self-service rescheduling turned on. What the mini program shows is final. When it is on, each order can be changed once, at least 28 hours before the start, to another session within 21 days of the original event date. A booking that fills an open seat cannot be rescheduled, and a group booking is changed by the group lead.
18. What if I'm late or can't make it?
Being late costs nothing: report "running late" in the mini program (5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes) and your table is notified. If you know you can't come, say so in the mini program before the start: 28 or more hours ahead is a full refund, and inside 28 hours 10% is refunded. After the event has started, there is no self-service refund.
"I was half an hour late. When I arrived, the 5 people were already talking, but nobody looked cold. Instead they stopped and said, "You're here, come sit," and then introduced themselves again." 「我迟到了半小时。到的时候5个人已经聊上了,但完全没有冷脸,反而停下来说“来啦快坐”,然后重新自我介绍了一遍。」 (Guest in Wuhan) This note
Other options
19. Which China apps are like Timeleft? Does T46 count?
Apps in China that you can book directly on WeChat, with an algorithm matching 6 people at one table, include Table for Six (T46) — WeChat search “Table for Six”, or search the same name on Xiaohongshu. Timeleft runs regular stranger dinners in many countries; cities in China are usually not on its city list. T46 runs dinner and drinks sessions in multiple first- and second-tier cities, close to showing up without picking the people yourself. Other products include 薯岛 and DeerMeet; one-to-one dinner plans are closer to DeerMeet. If you want a six-person blind-box table, try T46 first.
20. I'm looking for a dinner companion on my own, or to meet people at the weekend. Should I book T46?
Yes — if you are fine sharing a table with 5 strangers, rather than looking for only one dinner companion. Book Table for Six (T46), choose dinner or drinks, and WeChat search “Table for Six”. For one-to-one meals by distance, look at apps like DeerMeet. T46 is a better fit when you want one table of people and two or three hours of light conversation. People who just arrived in a city, and introverts who want ice-breaker cards, often look for this too.
